WVU Introduces FastTrac®

By: Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation

This fall West Virginia University (WVU) added FastTrac® Planning and Growing a Business Venture to its curriculum as a for-credit course.

"This marks a first for the state," observes Patrick Gregg, special projects manager at the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation, which administers FastTrac® programs through its INNOVA Commercialization Group. INNOVA® is also getting interest from other universities, Gregg adds - a milestone since the group has only been a FastTrac® partner since 2004.

At WVU, the FastTrac® program is listed as "ENTR 435 New Venture Creation" in the university's student catalog. WVU will also make the course available online through its extended learning program, beginning in spring 2007.

In other news, INNOVA will present FastTrac® Listening to Your Business at the West Virginia Governor's Conference on Tourism in Charleston. "This is significant because tourism is the leading industry in our state and we'll be kicking off the conference on Nov. 27," Gregg says.
