The Kauffman Foundation catalyzes entrepreneurial success in business, education and social innovation. This website provides information, resources and links to collegiate entrepreneurship, knowledge, training and business development, access to capital and markets, advancing innovation, entrepreneurial economies, research about entrepreneurship and more. Links also include Kauffman FastTrac® entrepreneurial training programs offered statewide by INNOVA. FastTrac® is a practical, hands-on business development program designed to help entrepreneurs hone the skills needed to create, manage and grow a successful business. A product of the Kauffman Foundation, this site includes Kauffman points of view for entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs' stories, how to's, tools and templates. MURC is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit corporation chartered under the laws of the State of West Virginia. It serves as the fiscal and administrative agent for sponsored research and other projects conducted by Marshall University. The MURC has the authority to enter into agreements with external funding agencies on behalf of Marshall University, and it provides a complete range of administrative and fiscal services in support of funded projects. Marshall University TTO's primary focus is to make the unique products and services generated by its faculty, staff and students available to the public for commercialization. Its mission includes providing quality assistance and increasing opportunities to university inventors and the commercialization of ideas. The office works with regional economic development partners to create high-tech, high paying jobs in West Virginia. Its first goal is to see that the new enterprises growing out of Marshall stay in West Virginia. SBDC is a division of the West Virginia Development Office. The SBDC promotes economic development through a program of practical, interrelated services, providing assistance to existing small businesses and the emerging entrepreneur. The SBDC provides many free services that assist entrepreneurs in their business ventures. The web site includes links to business consulting, classes, grants and loans and services. RCAC is a non-profit corporation funded by the Defense Logistics Agency, the State of West Virginia, the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, the Robert C. Byrd Institute, the West Virginia SBDC and Verizon to provide assistance to West Virginia companies seeking to do business with federal, state, or local government agencies. Available on the web site are: services, operations centers, surveys, workshops and conferences, contracting information and client success stories. The West Virginia state government site provides information on doing business within the state. Information includes forms and links regarding licensing, starting a business, laws and regulations and business online services. Teaming to Win provides business support conferences, educational activities, promotional forums, networking resources, workforce and business growth opportunities. The U.S. Census Bureau serves as the leading source of quality data about the nation's people and economy. The web site includes data on people and households, business and industry, geography, news and news topics. This site provides intellectual property (IP) information and resources for inventors for patents and trademarks. This site offers information and raining opportunities for a businesses including areas of planning, financing, managing and general business operations as well as covering topics of marketing, law, taxes and employment topics. The Office of Entrepreneurial Development offers a network of training and counseling services with information on SBDC locations, training opportunities, Women's Business Centers, information and resources including plans, publications, forms, library, and SBA programs and tools for small businesses. The WVDO site includes information on property tax increment financing, demographics, work force profile, testimonials, transportation, natural resources, utilities, development incentives, environmental permitting, technology assets, education, business support, business costs and qualify of life within the state. The WVEDC was created for a unified program of economic development in West Virginia. WVEDC promotes activities to retain and expand existing business and industry and to attract new business and industry to West Virginia. WVEF supports education, networking and mentoring of West Virginia entrepreneurs who are committed to creating profitable ventures. The site includes news, calendar, library, forums and access to download information on accounting, entrepeurership, marketing, capital and legal topics. The WVSBDC site offers information and links to a business plan sample, business tools, information on professional and financial resources for West Virginia companies, handbook on going into business in West Virginia, market research, regulatory issues, SBDC locations and services, research and commercialization program, service provider matrix, small business work force training grant application, training and workshop calendar, virtual small business incubator, and a women and minority-owned business database. WVU B&E offers several programs to help business leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers. The site includes links to Bureau of Business & Economic Research, Center for Career Development, Center for Executive Education, Center for Chinese Business and the Entrepreneurship Center. The WVU Research Corporation receives and administers funds awarded by external agencies for research and other activities. The corporation is also responsible for managing intellectual properties sponsored for the university. The primary responsibilities in the intellectual property arena involve the protection of intellectual property by patents, copyrights and commercialization (e.g. licensing, start-up companies). Workforce West Virginia is a network of workforce development services designed to provide West Virginia's citizens and employers the opportunity to compete in today's competitive global economy. By making available the appropriate educational and training opportunities, West Virginia can provide its citizens with the work skills needed by businesses currently in the state or planning a West Virginia location. VCLink provides a portal for West Virginia businesses and job seekers. By becoming a member of this free service one can utilize all of VCLink's tools, which include West Virginia business opportunities, jobs, résumés and company profiles.
